Top 10 Sports Movies
10. BASEketball (1998)
It's pretty much funny all the way through.  Al Michaels and Bob Costas are hilarious, "and just think Bob, only a few years ago those girls were only in grade school.  Mmmmhhh."  Trey Parker and Matt Stone showcase their raw comedy on the screen, and not just with animation.  Add a hot Jenny McCarthy at her peak, and it does have a good sports story surrounding how corrupt sports team owners really are.

9. Bull Durham (1988)
It has great one liners, and such memorable baseball quotes; "This, is a simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball." amongst others.  Susan Sarandon is sexy, Kevin Costner is solid as Crash Davis, and it's a good movie to see how pitchers and catchers form a relationship.

8. A League Of Their Own (1992)
Who would've thought, that a movie with Madonna, and Rosie O'Donnell, would go down as one of the best sports movies of all time?!?!?  It happened.  This is a good baseball story, surrounding the Women's Baseball League that developed during WWII.  It's good for the family, because the kids won't understand the adult parts.  Tom Hanks is solid, and brought us "there's no crying in baseball!", and it will go down as a great time period movie as well.

7.Remember The Titans (2000)
Denzel Washington gives a great performance, and the football scenes throughout the movie are pretty cool.  Washington portrays Herman Boone, the coach who integrated the football team at T.C. Williams High School, in the 1970's.  It shows the friendships throughout a racially divided time in our country, and the character that the young men build.

6. Goon (2012)
This is a really great hockey movie.  It is hard to see Sean William Scott as such a nice guy, but he plays it well, and it showcases fighting in the sport of hockey.  The hockey team brings in Scott, only to fight, he can't skate, and can't shoot, but they want him to just fight.  Scott really likes it, and you see this movie is more about finding where you fit in.

5. Major League (1989)
Bob Uecker kills it, and his quick one liners helped make "Major League" into one of the most entertaining sports movies of all time.  The new owner Rachel Phelps, a Vegas Showgirl, tries to move the Cleveland Indians, to Miami, and in doing so she puts together the worst team that can be put together.  The players find out, and turn around their season, and give Rachel "a nice big shit burger"!  Charlie Sheen's 'Wild Thing' Rick Vaughn is bad ass, and Wesley Snipes got his breakthrough role in it, as well as a young and very sexy Rene Russo.

4. Rudy (1993)
I mean, it's about the smallest guy, with the biggest heart trying to accomplish his childhood dream of playing for the Irish.  It's a true story, and Sean Astin does a great job.  "Rudy" shows how arduous it really is without natural talent to make a football team, and overcome all boundaries in your way.

3. Any Given Sunday (1999)
One of Pacino's finest performances, and he wasn't even nominated.  I still think that he based his character off of Mike Shanahan, not only does he look like him, but I feel like Shanahan treats his players the same way too.  His speech, "Football is like life gentlemen", is so motivating and true, it is one of the best sports speeches, and it's a fictional movie.

2. The Replacements (2000)
Gene Hackman plays a great coach, and Keanu is good choice for a QB.  They had been pushed aside by football, and when they got their second chance to play, they made the most of it.  A cop, a con, a sumo wrestler, a priest, and an Irish placekicker round out a fun team, and Keanu does have a great speech at the end, "Chicks dig scars, pain heals, glory is forever."

1.*61 (2001)
Billy Crystal does a fantastic job in telling the story of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris and their quest to break Babe Ruth's single season record.  Thomas Jane is great as the playful Mantle, and Barry Pepper is genuine as Roger Maris.  The film shows how stressful the chase was on the two players, and how their friendship endures.  It's about the Yankees when they were the most popular team, and about the most popular players on that team, making history.  I really enjoy this movie, there's a ton a baseball in it, and it introduced me to my favorite historical athlete, Mickey Mantle.  I get excited still to watch this movie!
