2013 NFL Draft Review; Shua Slips! Or Did I?!?

Nope!  I totally slipped.  Honestly, I could've been more aggressive in picks, but overall, it was not pretty.  That is, of course, MY mock draft.  I had a lot of teams picking the same positions that I predicted, just not the same players.  It was a fun draft to watch, and holding the first round in primetime is a great idea.  The season in which they play, is so short, but now the NFL has found away to have a season in the off-season.  Right in the middle of March Madness, NFL opened free agency and people were more glued to that than the tournament, and now during the NBA playoffs, more people were watching the NFL draft.
Now that the draft is over, the season seems closer now.  Here are my grades for each team's draft.  Don't get offended folks, it's just an opinion!

Arizona Cardinals
Horst Report Card- A
After getting Carson Palmer some protection with Jonathon Cooper, G UNC, they picked up 2 players from a really good LSU defense over the past 2 years, Mathieu, and LB Kevin Minter, and Swoope, WR Texas A&M, could prove to be a silent steal.

Atlanta Falcons
Horst Report Card- C-
CB Desmond Trufant is a great pick up, but on a team this strong, it's hard to get the best players where you need.  I think they may have stretched a bit with Motta, S Notre Dame, but with Umenyoria signing, they bulked up the secondary.

Baltimore Ravens
Horst Report Card- B
Ravens' General Manager Ozzie Newsome is one of the best draft G.M.''s in history, and he had another great draft to add to his resume this year.  Picking up S Matt Elam (which I called) in the first helps that huge gaping hole in the secondary left by Ed Reed.  Along with Arthur Brown LB Kansas St., and John Simon DE Ohio St., the Ravens stacked up on D, and are now looking for the captain.  Good job, Oz.

Buffalo Bills
Horst Report Card- B-
The Bills moved down to get a QB, and they received another pick as well, drafting EJ Manuel, and WR Robert Woods with those picks, the Bills are looking for a fast paced, high energy running offense, to put on the field.  I like what they did, and I hope that they continue to put up points.  They can, they usually have pretty good games against the Patriots, but we'll see.

Carolina Panthers
Horst Report Card- C+
The Panthers think very highly of Luke Kuechly and they went out and gave him two big defensive tackles, Star Lotulelei and Kawaan Short.  I always say, win battles in the trenches, and big plays will be made.

Chicago Bears
Horst Report Card- C-
Ok, they got a guard in the 1st to help protect Cutler, but they could have got him in the 2nd.  They reached, and I think they reached a little too far.  Jon Bostic LB Florida, is a good pick, and they did get another o-linemen and LB, just a bit too early perhaps.

Cincinnati Bengals
Horst Repor Card- B
The Bengals had a very productive draft, and were able to pick up a couple more playmakers on offense.  That will help Andy Dalton and AJ Green for sure.  Their defensive picks were great I thought as well, Margus Hunt DE, and S Shamarkko Williams helps in the pass rush.  Bengals are a favorite in the AFC for wild cards, but it's too tough of division to win consistently.

Cleveland Browns
Horst Report Card- D
Mingo DE LSU isn't a smart pick, and he doesn't have the discipline or conditioning to play as a 3 down pass rusher.  It's almost as if the Browns didn't take this draft seriously.  They could have made so many trades and picked up so much more but chose to be silent, and I think that's how the season will go for them, as usual.

Dallas Cowboys
Horst Report Card- D
Centers usually aren't taken in the first round because that is such a leadership position, and it takes a few years to get good at it and  learn how to get QB's comfortable with sticking their hands under your ass, so for Jerry Jones to make this pick is eyebrow raising.  Gavin Escobar TE SDST., was a good pick but they already have two good TE's.  Don't overstock in a position that can't be used to the matter you are trying for.  TE's, S's, FB's, C's, these type of position.

Denver Broncos
Horst Report Card- B
The Broncos could have traded out, they di have that possibility, but with Sly Williams DT UNC falling to them at 28, he was too good to pass up.  At first I was questioning the pick, thinking, why not Cordralle Patterson WR, Eddie Lacy RB, Matt Elam S, but then I saw that 7 out of 15 scouts had him in the top 5, and 5 more had him as a top 10 pick.  They like his character, and were super happy that he was there.  And now with Dumervil gone, they need Derek Wolfe to rotate outside at end more, but this gives them D. Wolfe, Kevin Vickerson, Terrence Knighton, Robert Ayers, Malik Jackson(who was out the entire year last year), and signing Shuan Phillips, LB from the Chargers, the Broncos added plenty of talent to an already talented defense.  Then in the 2nd round, I lost my mind because in my Mock draft I had the Broncos picking him.  So I was fist pumpin' like a fuckin gelled up Jersey Shore guido!  Then I remembered how much of a dumb ass I am, because, the night before the draft, in my final edition, I had Green Bay picking him instead!  I am so stupid!  But am also so excited for Montee Ball RB Wis, I'm thinking about getting a Ball jersey.  I watched him a lot at Wisconsin for the past 2 years, and he reminds me a lot of a Clinton Portis type player.  If he can get better a t blocking, we could have a very dangerous backfield, with McGahee, Ball, Hillman and Moreno.  This will help Willis stay healthy for the full season, and Ball can get out of the backfield faster and catch better.  So with the edition of Welker, Manning will be passing a lot more, and Ball will get some playtime.  Elway knows what he's doing, and my faith in Coach Fox is increasing, so I think that overall this was a good draft for Denver.

Detroit Lions
Horst Report Card- C
The Lions got Ziggy Ansah DE BYU, which I called, to help Suh and the D-line, picked up Darius Slay CB, but seemed to have just sailed through some picks, Riddick RB Notre Dame.  With Reggie Bush in the backfield and a slew of WR's, they should have just kept the focus on defense.  They couldn't stop Rodgers, Cutler, Ponder, my friend Richard's grandmother (yo happy birthday Mrs. W!) last year, and they should've focused on that.  They passed up a lot of good talent in a lot of good spots.

Green Bay Packers
Horst Report Card- B
Ted Thompson is a draft guru, and showed why here.  Datone Jones DE UCLA, Eddie Lacy RB Ala, Jonathon Franklin RB UCLA was a steal, they picked up some good linemen, and are now trying to build a run game for Aaron Rodgers and his $20 million+ a year contract.  The Packers shot up to the top of the list for contenders in the NFC with Lacy and Franklin, and that is going to be a sweet duo to watch for a few years.  Think Bo Jackson, and Marcus Allen, now with Aaron Rodgers.

Houston Texans
Horst Report Card- C+
DJ Swearinger S, in the 2nd round is a hell of a pickup, and he will fit well with Ed Reed.  DeAndre Hopkins WR Clem., in the first will help out Andre Johnson, but getting Sam Montgomery DE LSU, in the 4th is a good pick, and he should help out that line, and JJ Watt.

Indianapolis Colts
Horst Report Card- C
The Colts got a good pass rusher in Bjoern Werner DE FSU, but didn't feel the need to go get a fast LB to help in coverage which is where they got burned a lot last year.  They need to keep Andrew Luck healthy because when the Broncos and Peyton come to town, it's going to get messy.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Horst Report Card- C+
Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M, fell right into their laps, and this should help MoJo Drew, and who ever becomes the QB, a ton.  They also picked up Jonathon Cyprien S, and Josh Evans S, to help in the secondary, and I think they slowly are moving in the right direction here.

Kansas City Chiefs
Horst Report Card- C+
The Chiefs changed up the entire top 10 with pick Eric Fisher OT C. Mich., and I thought it was genius.  But after that they seemed to ease up on the pedal, getting Travis Kelce TE, RB Kniles Davis, in an already good offense, and picked Nico Johnson LB, a little high I thought.

Miami Dolphins
Horst Report Card- B
I think the Dolphins did a fine job especially the way they were able to use some extra picks to get some good players, like the trade with Oakland at number 3 to get Dion Jordan LB Ore..  They were also able to get CB Jamarr Taylor, and they are looking to be in competition for a wild card spot this season.

Minnesota Vikings
Horst Report Card- A
This is how you manipulate the draft to get the players you want.  Shariff Floyd DT, fell into their hands, and CB Xavier Rhodes was still there with the pick from Seattle.  Then, they traded back into the first to get Cordralle Patterson, which is a great pick, but 4 picks is a little too steep in my book.  They picked up some playmakers to go with Adrian Peterson, and are hoping for a better year with Ponder.

New England Patriots
Horst Report Card- C+
The Pats usually draft well, but they haven't had so much luck with WR's, and I think Aaron Dobson went a little early.  They have a solid run game, but they need to get younger at O-line.  But Tom Brady can pretty much take them to the Super Bowl, but how much help can you give him to win it again.  Adam Vinitiari isn't coming back anytime soon.

New Orleans Saints
Horst Report Card- B
After a real tough year in the Bayou, the Saints look ready to bounce back and they had a solid draft here.  Kenny Vacaro S, is a great pick, and Terron Armstead OT, I believe is a steal.  They also got John Jenkins DT Ohio St., to help with the run defense, and another good WR, Kenny Stills for Drew Brees.  The Saints will be back in contention this season.

New York Giants
Horst Report Card- C-
Wow, the Giants didn't see that much talent in the first round I guess, and they went with Justin Pugh G Ore..  But then they turned it around and got John Hankins DT Ohio St., and Demontae Moore DE Texas A&M, and got more studs for the D-line.  As long as Eli Manning has the ball, anything is possible for the Giants, and they didn't trade Victor Cruz like I thought they might.

New York Jets
Horst Report Card- C
Dee Millner CB is a solid pick, but Sheldon Richardson DT over Sly Williams DT, was a gamble I feel.  And getting Geno Smith QB shows that Mark Sanchez is going to be looking for a place to stay in the next couple weeks.  Tebow just got released, so it looks like Smith is gonna be holding the ball from the get go.  Rex Ryan likes rookie QB's though, so it could work.  They also picked up 3 OL's as well for that awfulness they suffered last year.

Oakland Raiders
Horst Report Card- B
The Raiders were able to get an extra pick from Miami and took, who I believe is the 3rd best CB in the draft, Joe Hayden.  He just wasn't rated that high, but along with Sio Moore LB, they got a whole lot faster on that side of the ball.  Getting QB Tyler Wilson is a good pick, only because Matt Flynn has only played in like 3 pro games.

Philadelphia Eagles
Horst Report Card- B+
I like Chip Kelly a whole lot, and I think that he did an excellent job at his first NFL draft.  Dion Jordan was taken away at no. 3, so he took the best linemen available Lane Johnson from Oklahoma.  Then picked up the sure handed TE Zach Ertz from Stan., Jordan Poyer CB Boise St., who is a beast, and Matt Barkely QB USC, which is good to put pressure on Vick, and I'm not buying Nick Foles, neither is Kelly.  Good draft for the Eagles I feel.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Horst Report Card- B+
If I had an NFL franchise, I would want my coach to be exactly like Mike Tomlin.  Jarvis Jones is the perfect Steelers linebacker, and he was still available which was surprising, and I called it so that was awesome!  With LaVon Bell RB MSU, and Markus Wheaton WR Oregon St., they gave Big Ben some more weapons to work with.

San Diego Chargers
Horst Report Card- D+
OT DJ Fluker was a good pick to help Rivers' backside, but Manti Te'o is a huge risk.  He's not that fast for his smaller size, and isn't strong enough to consistently pass rush.  If he stays in a 3-4 defense, he should play well, but it was a risky pick, especially with Kevin Minter right there.

San Francisco 49ers
Horst Report Card- B
The 49ers add enough picks to do as they please, and they did a good job.  The NFC Champs didn't miss a beat and loaded up with some great talent.  They traded with Dallas at no. 18, and got Eric Reid S LSU, who was my best Safety.  Adding Tank Carridine DE FSU will help the pass rush, and Vance McDonald TE, was the fastest TE in the draft.  That will be a huge weapon with Davis on the other side.  This team should be good for awhile, especially with drafts like this.

Seattle Seahawks
Horst Report Card- C-
The Seahawks were quiet this year, with the 1st round pick traded to Minnesota, but getting Christine Michael RB from Texas A&M, was a bit strange to me.  Pete Carroll has been out of college football for a few years, and I think he wasn't able to get any solid linemen for Russell Wilson.

St. Louis Rams
Horst Report Card- A-
I think the Rams had the best draft, and I love how Jeff Fisher drafts.  Trading up for WR Tavon Austin at no. 8 was a good move.  This gives Bradford a fast and versatile weapon, then to be able to trade down and have LB Alec Ogletree there is astounding!  And I have been saying that TJ McDonald S USC, is one of the best Safeties in the draft, and Jeff Fisher thought so as well.  They picked up Austin's buddy, WR Stedman Bailey to give a nice combo for Bradford.  To top off a stellar draft, they got Center Barrett Jones form Alabama, a four year starter, and is also able to play guard or tackle, he is a solidified leader for the offensive line.  Rams got some impact players and trading that number 2 pick last year for RGII is paying off.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Horst Report Card- D+
With the trade for Revis, I'll count it, and give them a C-, but why another CB, Jonathan Banks,  Miss. St.?  Then QB Mike Glennon over Tyler Wilson and Matt Barkley??  I like William Ghoslton DE MSU a lot and I think that was their best pick, and it was in the 4th round?!  Josh Freeman will be a free agent after the season, and it doesn't look like the Buccs are keeping him around, so they will probably just hold off to get a QB.

Tennessee Titans
Horst Report Card- C
Drafting an offensive linemen from the SEC is usually a good way to go, G Chance Warmack, and trading up for WR Justin Hunter was smart, but after that, they just coasted through the rest of the draft.

Washington Redskins
Horst Report Card- B+
Mike Shanahan usually has pretty good drafts and I think this was another one of them.  Jordan Reed TE Florida was a good pickup for Griffin in the Red zone, Phillip Thomas S, is a good addition, and Amerson CB was a solid pickup in the 2nd round. They bulked up where they needed to and should have another solid year in the NFC East.

Nuggets in A Lot Of TROUBLE Down 3-1 to Curry lead Warriors

Stephan Curry is a great player and Mark Jackson is a great coach, first and foremost.  Give credit, where credit is due, and The Warriors are playing fantastic basketball against the Denver Nuggets.  The Warriors are shooting 53% on field goals, and 44% from 3-point land.  The highest in the playoffs.  Jarrett Jack, Carl Landry, Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes are all above 40% in field goals, and on top of that averaging 40 rebounds a game.  Even with a healthy Gallinari, the Nuggets have no consistent 3 point shooter, and are getting decimated on the perimeter.  Even without Lee, the Warriors are out-rebounding the Nuggets, and the Nuggets just look confused.

Something is on Kenneth Faried's mind, he hasn't been the same player since February.  The Nuggets have not played the same type of defense the way they did in the regular season.  It's not because of Gallinari's injury, that they can't keep up with the Warriors, the Warriors are are open for 3 all the time. The Nuggets get bunched in the middle, and get spread as fast as the Warriors dish it outside to each other.
I'm almost wondering if this same team, if coached by Phil Jackson, could win a championship.  Nine fucking years Karl, that's a long time.  And the Nuggets' fans expect the playoffs consistently, you established that, but why the hell can they not get out of the first round.  The fans aren't asking to be in the finals every year, but get past the first fucking round, come on.  Once in ten years, really isn't a good average.  Phil Jackson would love it in Denver, and that may be the only way he would come out of retirement.  I'll take that.

Horst Report Top 10 Favorite Sports Movies

So many sports movies have come out, and it seems that more and more will come.  It's great, it's motivational, it's inspirational, heartwarming, tear jerking, just great entertainment.  These are my favorites, only mine!  If you do or don't like 'em, tell me!  On a personal note, I have surpassed 1,000 page views for the Horst Report!  Thank you to those who are reading, and hey, tell your friends.  But thank you readers!  I do this for your entertainment, and here's to 1,000 more views to come!

Other Good Sports Movies
The Sandlot, The Benchwarmers, The Waterboy, Pride Of The Yankees, Semi Pro, Necessary Roughness, White Men Can't Jump, SpaceJam, Eddie, The Mighty Ducks, Rocky, Raging Bull, Slapshot, The Comebacks, Caddyshack, Hardball, Brian's Song, Leather-heads, Miracle, The Longest Yard, Talladega Nights, The Babe, Rookie Of The Year, Dodgeball.

Top 10 Sports Movies
10. BASEketball (1998)
It's pretty much funny all the way through.  Al Michaels and Bob Costas are hilarious, "and just think Bob, only a few years ago those girls were only in grade school.  Mmmmhhh."  Trey Parker and Matt Stone showcase their raw comedy on the screen, and not just with animation.  Add a hot Jenny McCarthy at her peak, and it does have a good sports story surrounding how corrupt sports team owners really are.

9. Bull Durham (1988)
It has great one liners, and such memorable baseball quotes; "This, is a simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball." amongst others.  Susan Sarandon is sexy, Kevin Costner is solid as Crash Davis, and it's a good movie to see how pitchers and catchers form a relationship.

8. A League Of Their Own (1992)
Who would've thought, that a movie with Madonna, and Rosie O'Donnell, would go down as one of the best sports movies of all time?!?!?  It happened.  This is a good baseball story, surrounding the Women's Baseball League that developed during WWII.  It's good for the family, because the kids won't understand the adult parts.  Tom Hanks is solid, and brought us "there's no crying in baseball!", and it will go down as a great time period movie as well.

7.Remember The Titans (2000)
Denzel Washington gives a great performance, and the football scenes throughout the movie are pretty cool.  Washington portrays Herman Boone, the coach who integrated the football team at T.C. Williams High School, in the 1970's.  It shows the friendships throughout a racially divided time in our country, and the character that the young men build.

6. Goon (2012)
This is a really great hockey movie.  It is hard to see Sean William Scott as such a nice guy, but he plays it well, and it showcases fighting in the sport of hockey.  The hockey team brings in Scott, only to fight, he can't skate, and can't shoot, but they want him to just fight.  Scott really likes it, and you see this movie is more about finding where you fit in.

5. Major League (1989)
Bob Uecker kills it, and his quick one liners helped make "Major League" into one of the most entertaining sports movies of all time.  The new owner Rachel Phelps, a Vegas Showgirl, tries to move the Cleveland Indians, to Miami, and in doing so she puts together the worst team that can be put together.  The players find out, and turn around their season, and give Rachel "a nice big shit burger"!  Charlie Sheen's 'Wild Thing' Rick Vaughn is bad ass, and Wesley Snipes got his breakthrough role in it, as well as a young and very sexy Rene Russo.

4. Rudy (1993)
I mean, it's about the smallest guy, with the biggest heart trying to accomplish his childhood dream of playing for the Irish.  It's a true story, and Sean Astin does a great job.  "Rudy" shows how arduous it really is without natural talent to make a football team, and overcome all boundaries in your way.

3. Any Given Sunday (1999)
One of Pacino's finest performances, and he wasn't even nominated.  I still think that he based his character off of Mike Shanahan, not only does he look like him, but I feel like Shanahan treats his players the same way too.  His speech, "Football is like life gentlemen", is so motivating and true, it is one of the best sports speeches, and it's a fictional movie.

2. The Replacements (2000)
Gene Hackman plays a great coach, and Keanu is good choice for a QB.  They had been pushed aside by football, and when they got their second chance to play, they made the most of it.  A cop, a con, a sumo wrestler, a priest, and an Irish placekicker round out a fun team, and Keanu does have a great speech at the end, "Chicks dig scars, pain heals, glory is forever."

1.*61 (2001)
Billy Crystal does a fantastic job in telling the story of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris and their quest to break Babe Ruth's single season record.  Thomas Jane is great as the playful Mantle, and Barry Pepper is genuine as Roger Maris.  The film shows how stressful the chase was on the two players, and how their friendship endures.  It's about the Yankees when they were the most popular team, and about the most popular players on that team, making history.  I really enjoy this movie, there's a ton a baseball in it, and it introduced me to my favorite historical athlete, Mickey Mantle.  I get excited still to watch this movie!

NFL Releases Regular Season Schedule; Hands Broncos Lombardi Trophy

Wow! Thank You NFL, that was very nice of you.  After choking the Super Bowl away to the Ravens last year, it seems the NFL wants the Broncos to win it all this year.  Let's look at the schedule for the Broncos, then we will check out the rest of the NFL and some other awesome games!

Week 1 vs. Ravens
Get your revenge early and wash that fucking taste out of your mouth first thing!  The Broncos host the champions in a real quick match up from the playoffs last year, and for the first time since the season opened on Thursday night, the Super Bowl Champions aren't at home.  MMMHHH, This is strange.  Why aren't they receiving their rings?  And why this rematch?  Why not against the Patriots?  The Broncos are the headline team in the NFL right now, so this is a great way to start off the season.

Week 2 at N.Y. Giants
The Broncos' first game at the New Meadowlands, and the Manning brothers face off.  Not a prime time game, but will be a good matchup.  The last 2 Super Bowl Champions, back to back right at the beginning.  Oh yea, get comfy, because that is where the Super Bowl is this year.

Week 3 vs Raiders
Come home, bash the Raiders, and thank Dennis Allen.

Week 4 vs Eagles
The Eagles' new coach Chip Kelly wants to revolutionize the NFL with his offensive scheme.  This will take some time to accomplish, so get 'em early when they are still figuring themselves out as a team.

Week 5 at Dallas
Tony Romo gets a bad rap, he's a good QB, but not worth $50 million.  He's like a Jake Plummer, he's got a decent record, but no playoff success.  This is always a good game.  Both teams came into existence in 1960, played in a combined 14 super bowls (DAL 8, DEN 6), and met in Super Bowl XXII.

Week 6 vs Jaguars
The Jaguars have no identity but for some weird fucking reason, seem to beat Denver, IN Denver.  We need to exercise those demons and just crush them.  Peyton has played them plenty, and been successful, so that's nice to have on our side.

Week 7 at Indianapolis
Peyton needs to go back to the house that he built, and make sure that the kid whose living in it, knows whose fucking house it is!

Week 8 vs Redskins
The Return of Mike Shanahan.  The man who brought 2 Super Bowls to us here in Denver.  I personally will welcome him back, he was a great coach, he's a good man, and I hope he does well in Washington.  Just not in this game!!

Week 9 BYE
Perfectly placed in the middle of the season, catching on yet?

Week 10 at San Diego
Remember last year in San Diego?  35 unanswered points and the first victory of an eleven game win streak!?  Ring a bell?  Let's go do it again that was fun!

Week 11 vs Chiefs
Welcome to Denver Andy Reid and Alex Smith.  Von Miller will take care of Smith, and the Broncos should show Reid that this is our house.

Week 12 at New England
God!  Again in New England?!?  Well if you wanna be the best, you gotta beat the best, especially at home.  This will probably be a playoff tiebreaker game, but another Manning vs. Brady matchup, and these are always good games.  Don't expect any pleasantries for Welker.

Week 13 at Kansas City
Arrowhead Stadium is always a tough place to play, and the Chiefs will have a totally rebuilt offense, and could possibly be in a wild card chase at this point.

Week 14 vs Titans
The Titans are trying to find a face of their franchise, and 2nd year Mike Munchak has to figure out which direction he is going in.   Chris Johnson has the speed, but if kept inside he's useless.

Week 15 vs Chargers
This is the last home game of the regular season and that sucks, because it's in early December, and it's not a very good team.  I guess the NFL just figured we'd get a home playoff game anyways.

Week 16 at Houston
This is a good matchup, and at this point in the season, it will be for playoff seeding.  If Houston is healthy they're dangerous.  But they came here and beat us, so we need to go to their house and beat them.

Week 17 at Oakland
It always sucks to play the Raiders this late in the season because they're always mad cause they fuckin suck, and miss the playoffs.  So they go out looking to hurt, and don't give a shit about what happens.  It's dangerous for the Broncos to go in and get out healthy.  Plus the field is gonna be all shitty, this game just sucks, fuck the Raiders.

Season prediction: 12-4  By the end of the year, they should be adding another trophy to Mile High.

And the Nuggets said "POW! RIGHT IN THE KISSA!"

Tim Duncan walked into the Pepsi Center with a sad look on his face.  Then he left with one.  Of course he always looks like that, so fuck him.  The Spurs held Denver to 11 points in the 1st quarter. Then Corey Brewer came in, and completely turned it around.  That is the leadership this team has been looking for, and along with Wilson Chandler, and JaVale McGee, the Nuggets bulldozed the Sours, sorry the Spurs, right out the door.  Andre Iguodala dropped a triple double, and the Nuggets never lost the lead, and won by 10. The Nuggets were going so fast, they were tripping over each other's feet!  Fournier has come ready to play and he is not afraid to get in there.  JaVale looks super pumped up right now, he and Chandler swatted Tim Duncan right in his stupid face.
Ballin'! Right now! Straight up ballin'!  Without the two top scorers. they just ran all around them old men.  The Spurs still fought, but you can't stop a downhill freight train, and that's What the Nuggets are right now.  The Spurs get Ginobli back, that'll help, but they better hope to play the Lakers, that's the only team they would have a chance against.  The Lakers are still trying to figure out their formula as a team, and they have a better chance against the Spurs than any other team.  That would be a good series.
The Nuggets are getting home court advantage in the playoffs, and nobody wants to play in Denver right now.  Ty Lawson is gonna be back just in time for the first series, and that looks to be against Golden State at the moment.  The Warriors are good, but the Nuggets seem just too dominant at the moment.  With this momentum, the Nuggets can accomplish so much.  The question is, can they get out of the first round?  Show us, and make your GM eat his words when he said "this is not a championship team right now,......the fans just need to be patient." back in February.  Hmmmm, interesting, since then, the Nuggets are 20-3.

Yanks' blast off;Rox slip in S.F.

5 different Yankees hit HR's against the Indians in a 14-1 beatdown, in Cleveland.  The biggest blowout for the Yankees in Cleveland since 1931, when they won 18-1.  Robinson Cano came into the series on Monday batting just over .100.  In 2 games against the Tribe, he is 7-10, 3 HR and 7 RBI.  Cano has got to stay consistent until the injured players can get back.  That is the only way the Yankees can keep their head above water.  Andy Pettite pitched a solid 7 innings giving some more firepower off the mound.
The Rockies once again, blew a lead late against the Giants.  Linncecum got lit up giving up 6 earned runs, including a Troy Tulowitzki solo HR.  This was the issue all last year, and if the Rockies don't get it out of their system here early in the season, it will be tougher to overcome after the All-Star break.  But the bats look great, and you can see the influence that Dante Bichette has brought in the players swings.  They are using their whole body and snapping the forearms a lot quicker.  Dexter Fowler is definitely paying attention.  Willian Rosario is developing into a well rounded catcher.
If the game was only 6 innings, the Rockies would be the best team in baseball.  But it's 9, and the Rox just don't close it out consistently enough to win games.  Until they figure it out, it's just gonna keep getting frustrating for the team and the fans.

NFL Mock Draft:Horst Report Style FiINAL EDITION 4/25

Here we go only days away from the NFL 2013 draft and the Jets already traded Revis to Tampa Bay, so I honestly think it will be the first of many.  So, I went through and looked up some player workouts with teams, and I am going to predict some trades here.

ROUND 1
1.KC-Luke Joekel OT Texas A&M- Protect the investment of Alex Smith, give him time to make the right throws, and KC will be drafting out of the Top 5 next year.

2.JAX-Geno Smith QB West Virginia- The Jaguars are dumb, they have no direction, and they think that Geno can help.  Why not, he's local, and that will help bring in fans.  You know cause Tim Tebow wouldn't do anything like that.  As bad of a QB in his timing and accuracy, Tebow wasn't as bad as the critics said he was.  Eric Decker, Dan Graham, and the Broncos WR's dropped a lot of his passes.  Tebow is a leader and they should try to go get him, it wouldn't hurt them in this draft.  Not at number 2, but at some point later on in the draft.

3.OAK- Chance Warmack OL Alabama- The last half decade of lineman production in the NFL has come heavily out of Alabama.  Raiders have to protect Flynn, and keep Run DMC healthy all year.  The Raiders' drafts over the past ten years have been bad.  I believe they made a good decision getting Dennis Allen as a head coach, they are still hurting from the dumb ass trade for Palmer, so they will probably need another year in the shitter before they can start turning things around.

4.PHI-Dion Jordan LB Oregon- Chip Kelley needs a captain for his defense and none better than his own from college.  Match made in heaven almost.

5.DET-Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah DE BYU-Vandedn Bosch is gone, and the Lions need all sorts of help on D.  Nick Fairly can't stay healthy, so stay in the trenches.  Get help to stop Forte, and Peterson in your division.

6.CLE-TRADE TO S.F.-Dee Milliner DB Alabama- Secondary helps all the time, and if you can find an elite CB its too hard to pass up.  The Browns need players everywhere, and this is the draft to pick up depth.  The Niners need more immediate impact, competing for the Super Bowl year in and out, so getting a quality corner will help that already solid defense.  Now with Palmer in Arizona, Harvin in Seattle, the secondary will need to step it up.

7.ARZ-Eric Fisher OT C.Michigan- Give Palmer time to be able to throw to Fitzgerald, and success will soon follow.

8.BUF-Alec Ogletree LB Georgia- The Bills need all sorts of help on defense, and since no QB is worth drafting, let Vince Young do what he can, and build a solid defense,

9.NYJ-Xaiver Rhodes CB Florida St.- With the likely trade of Revis, the Jets will need to find a replacement.  Only time will tell if it pays off.

10.TEN-Shariff Floyd DT Florida- Since Haynesworth left, they haven't been able to stop the run.  Get a big body in there, and force passes.  The Titans still have a long way to go though.

11.SD- Tavon Austin WR W.Virginia- The first WR off the board, and he can be an immediate threat for Phyllis Rivers and Mike McCoy's offense.

12.MIA- Jonathon Cooper OG N.Carolina- The Dolphins lost Jake Long, and with the signing of Mike Wallace, you gotta protect Tannehill long enough to get him the ball.

13.TB-TRADE TO NYJ-(Revis)- Kenny Vacaro S Texas- Trading Revis is gonna put a huge hole in that secondary, Kerry Rhodes is gone, the Jets need to have a strong secondary in the AFC East.  Tampa will give up probably 2 picks in this draft and 1 from next year's for Revis, and it's honestly a good trade.  Revis is an elite corner, and that is hard to come by these days.  Vacaro is a solid tackler, and there is a ton of depth in this draft.  (I called this trade a long time ago, no BS.)

14.CAR- Lane Johnson OT Oklahoma- The Panthers have to focus on their ground game if they want to be successful, and this is a good blocker for both run and pass protections.

15.N.O.- Bjoern Werner DE Florida St.- Florida State has a defense factory this year, and the Saints' D needs to bounce back from the wake of Bountygate, they have never really had a consistent pass rusher, and Werner's like a Jared Allen, just relentless.

16.St.L- Cordralle Patterson WR Tennessee-
Sam Bradford needs weapons, otherwise the Rams will have another lousy year on offense.  Patterson is a big target deep, and in the red zone.

17.PIT- Jarvis Jones LB Georgia- This is a perfect fit.  Pittsburgh prides themselves on linebackers, and Jones for some reason will drop here, and will fill Harrison's void, easily.

18.DAL- DJ Fluker OT Alabama- Protect your $55 million dollars, and give Tony Romo time to make smart decisions, he's not as bad as everyone witnesses for their own eyes, he deceives us all especially Jerry Jones.

19.NYG- Star Lutelelei DT Utah-
The Giants lost some key linebackers and linemen.  This would be a great start at rebuilding that.

20.CHI- Kevin Minter LB LSU- Brian Urlacher is gone, and they need a leader for that defense.  Nobody could ever replace Urlacher, but Minter is a smart player from a college team that has an NFL pedigree for defense..

21.CIN- Eddie Lacy RB Alabama- The combo of Dalton, Lacy, and AJ Green would be next to impossible to stop, and they are all young.

22.St.L- Berkervious Mingo DE/LB LSU-Year 2 with Jeff Fisher, and he always does pretty well in the draft.  He could go in a couple of directions, but linebackers are often injured, so build a good depth there.

23.MIN-Jonathon Hankins DT Ohio State- The Vikings love Buckeyes, and they need to shore up against the run, plus Hankins can take away from Allen's blocks.

24.IND- TRADE TO NYG(Victor Cruz)-Desmond Trufant CB Washington- This should happen!  You give Luck a great target in Cruz, and the Giants get help because they got torched badly last year in the secondary.  The Giants could probably finagle some sort of late round pick in the trade to pick up a WR themselves.

25.MIN-DeAndre Hopkins WR Clemson- Percy Harvin is gone, and they need to take away attention from Jennings and Randolph.  He's a big body for the red zone as well.

26.G.B.-Justin Hunter WR Tennessee- Greg Jennings is gone, Donald Driver is gone, and the Packers love to have plenty of depth at WR, and Hunter is a great route runner.

27.HOU- Arthur Brown LB Kansas St.-Connor Barwin left for Philly and Brown has huge upside, Gubiak and Phillips get great role players.

28.DEN-TRADE TO CLE via S.F.-Tyler Eiffert TE Notre Dame-The Browns don't really have an offensive threat other than Trent Richardson, so once he gets shut down, they need to find somebody to get them quick first downs in short yardage.  Eiffert is a big body, not really fast, but can move through to quick yardage.

29.N.E.- Alex Okefor LB Texas- The Patriots were last in pass defense last year, so they need to get some pressure on QB's otherwise Manning, Big Ben, Flacco, and others coming to New England are gonna light up the sky with TD passes.

30.ATL- Sheldon Richardson DT Missouri- The Falcons almost ran out of gas in the Divisional playoff against Seattle.  Keeping fresh legs on the line helps out sooo much.  Just ask the 2 time Super Bowl Champion New York Giants.

American football player in a crimson jersey and helmet and white pants.
31.S.F.-TRADE TO DEN- Jesse Williams DT Alabama- The Broncos have the luxury of drafting best available instead of immediate need.  Elway is not afraid to trade down, especially in this draft, where there is pretty significant talent throughout the first 3 rounds.  Jesse Williams is a good player from a well coached system.  He was on 2 Championship teams, and is big enough to stop the run, but can also move to end.  Williams, Wolfe, Vickerson, Knighton, Ayers, Malik Jackson, and Jeremy Beal is returning from a knee injury, round out a real solid defensive line.  Which is why they weren't that upset when Dumervil peaced out, and Freeney wants to much money for his age.  Jesse Williams is strong, and has a pretty interesting path to the NFL.  Wouldn't be surprised if the Broncos again trade out, but a lot of people were a little upset with no first day pick last year.  They should avoid that this year for the fans.

32.BAL- Matt Elam S Florida- Here you go Ravens' fans!  Fuck!  Don't kill yourselves yet!  I've heard, "We are gonna suck next year" from so many of those fucking guys!  The team you knew from the past  15 years is gone.  Joe Flacco took you to the Super Bowl, played extremely well on the way.  Now you get Matt Elam, who is quoted as saying he crafted his game after Ed Reed.  This would be a huge pick up for Baltimore.  And Ozzie Newsome is a hell of a General Manager.  Just take it easy, Ravens fans, it's gonna be OK.

ROUND 2
33.JAX- Melinik Watson OT Florida St-They have to protect Geno and MoJo Drew somehow.

34.S.F.-TRADE TO CLE - Keenan Allen WR CAL- Looks like the Browns are gonna stick with Brandon Weeden at QB for at least another year, so the Browns should give him a big weapon.

35.PHI- EJ Manuel QB Florida St.- Chip Kelly is taking over and Michael Vick can run the offense, but Kelly will bring in Manuel to either compete this year, or get ready for the future.

36.DET-Jonathon Banks CB Mississippi St.-As I said before, the Lions need all sorts of help on D, and picking up Banks would really help in a division with Rodgers and Cutler.

37.CIN-Jamarr Taylor CB Boise St.- Cincinnati needs help in the secondary otherwise they will just keep getting burned back there.

38.ARZ- Matt Barkley QB USC- Let him study from the mistakes that Palmer will make, or he can also continue the tradition of shitty USC QB's in the NFL.

39.NYJ- Datone Jones DE UCLA- Rex Ryan needs to get that defense back to as good as it was 2 years ago, and Bart Scott is gone.

40.TEN-Jonathon Cyprien SS Florida International -Titans need help everywhere on D, they already got a linemen, so get some backfield help here.

41.BUF-TRADE TO WAS(Kirk Cousins QB) Margus Hunt DE Southern Methodist-The Bills get a decent young QB, and the Redskins pick up another pick.  Hunt has first round potential, but in such a deep draft, he should be available here.

42.MIA-Giovani Bernard RB N. Carolina- Reggie Bush pieced out of Miami, I guess, the asses weren't big enough out there for him, so the Dolphins need to get some backfield help.

43.TB- Robert Woods WR USC- Josh Freeman needs another target to help take attention off of Mark Clayton on the other side.

44.CAR-Kawaan Short DT Purdue-The Panthers need help in so many places so get a DT early.

45.SD- Manti Te'o LB Notre Dame- San Diego has no leader for that D, and Te'o was a leader on that defense at Notre Dame.

46.DAL-Sam Montgomery DE LSU- With his comments about taking plays off doesn't help him, but the Dallas could use another LB opposite of Ware.

47.PIT- Jonathan Franklin RB UCLA- Probably the most underrated running back in this draft.  He has explosiveness, and good strength to go along with it.  Mendenhall is gone, and Pittsburgh is always in need of a RB.

48.NYG- Jon Bostic LB Florida- Giants lost a lot of personnel on defense this year, and they believe they can draft the right players at the right spots.  They've been doing it under Tom Coughlin, and both his rings are shiny!

49.CHI-Justin Pugh G Syracuse- We all saw Cutler go all baby mama on his linemen after all those sacks.  You can't blame him, they get paid to protect him.  Beef up on the offensive line, and keep Cutler and Forte healthy.

50.WAS-Terron Armstead OT- Arkansas P.B.- Gotta keep RGIII healthy, otherwise he's gonna keep getting injured.

51.MIN-DJ Hayden CB Houston-He should be in the top 50, but if he slips here, this would be a hell of a pickup for the Vikings in a division with Rodgers, Cutler and Stafford.

52.CIN-David Amerson CB N.Carolina St.-The Bengals have an explosive offense, now if they can get more takeaways on defense, the Bengals could return to the playoffs for a 3rd year in a row.

53.MIA-TRADE TO K.C.(Brandon Albert G)-Kiko Alonso LB Oregon- The Chiefs don't enough spped at LB to keep up with TE's in coverage.  Alonso would be a big help.

54.G.B.- John Jenkins DT Ohio St.- Geen Bay has a ton of holes in the front 7.  At this point, get the best available player at the toughest position.(DT)

55.SEA-Zach Ertz TE Stanford- A big red zone target for Russell Wilson.

56.N.O.- Forfeited (BOUNTYGATE)

57.HOU-Terrence Williams WR Baylor- Here we go, get the local boy, and have a huge fan morale boost.  He's fast, and would help Shuab opposite Andre Johnson.

58.DEN-TJ McDonald S USC- Remember last year's draft?!?!  Nobody had Derek Wolfe on the board for the Broncos, that is the same case here.  McDonald can play both Safety spots, not top speed but has great range, and he played in a pro style defense under Monte Kiffen.  This would be a huge diamond in the rough.  Broncos fans are screaming for Rahim Moore's head, and this is why McDonald would be perfect right here.

59.N.E.- Quitton Patton WR Louisiana Tech- Bill Belichick is just going to put the offense in Tom Brady's lotion sponsored hands.  Belichick thinks that Brady can win with anyone.  We'll see, I swear though, Tom Brady makes Kevin Garnett look like Seal.

60.ATL-David Bekhait OT Colorado- The Falcons released Tyson Clabo last week, which means they want to stay young on the front line.

61.S.F.- Travis Frederick C Wisconsin- San Francisco probably won't be using this pick anyway, with draft day trades.

62.BAL-Demontae Moore DE Texas A&M- Moore is gonna free fall after his poor workouts, and interviews at the combine.  This would be a good pickup for Baltimore.

ROUND 3
63.K.C.- B.W. Webb CB William & Mary- The Chiefs missed Brandon Carr last year, so look for them to search for some help at CB.

64.JAX-Marcus Lattimore RB S.Carolina St.- The Jaguars just make bad decisions all the time.  He's got injury problems but MoJo Drew is on his way out.

65.DET-Larry Wofford G Kentucky-Protect Matthew Stafford and help Reggie Bush get out of the backfield, he's a big bruiser.

66.OAK-Jordan Reed TE Florida- A big red zone threat with soft hands.  Matt Flynn really has no targets anyway.

67.PHI-Ryan Swoope WR Texas A&M- Chip Kelly is building a fast offense, and he has Desean Jackson speed, in a Wes Welker body.  Wouldn't be surprised if he goes earlier.

68. CLE-LaVon Bell RB Michigan St.- 1-2 POW POW, if the Browns are smart, they would build the entire offense around the run game.  With Bell and Richardson, that is easliy 15 carries per game each.  The less Brandon Weedon has to throw, the better chance they have of winning.

69.ARZ-Phillip Thomas S Fresno St.- Adrian Wilson is gone, and no you will never find a player of that caliber, you still need to search for a suitable replacement.

70.TEN-Jordan Poyer CB Ohio St.- This draft is loaded with DB's just go to the DB tree and pluck.

71.BUF-Aaron Dobson WR Marshall- Just like in Jacksonville though, no one to through it to him.

72.NYJ-Andre Ellington RB Clemson-The Jets won't be giving the ball to Tebow anytime soon, and they have no depth at running back.

73.T.B.- Jeff Baca OG UCLA- Protect your QB, and make way for the "Muscle Hamster" (Doug Martin) to the end zone.

74.S.F.-TRADE TO DEN(Picks&Knowshon Moreno)- Chris Harper WR Kansas St. - Peyton and Welker look to be getting along, another year with D. Thomas is gonna be sweet.  Decker is a solid no. 3 WR, and he should do pretty well there.  He can tackle himself and drop less passes in that spot.  So the Broncos do need to grab another WR for depth. Chris Harper is super underrated, and has a ton of acrobatic catches.  He could pop up in the right spots for Peyton at the right times.  The Niners could use a RB since Brandon Jacobs didn't pan out, so Moreno, in the last year of his contract, is definite trade bait.

75.N.O.-Trevando Williams LB Connecticut- The Saints' have no speed at LB, aside from Vilma who is returning.

76.S.D.-Devin Taylor DE S.Carolina St.- The Chargers have been looking for a decent pass rusher for a long time.

77.MIA-Kenjon Barner RB Oregon- Reggie Bush is in Detroit and Barner's speed at his size would be too perfect for the Dolphins to pass up on.

78.St.L- Sio Moore LB Connecticut- Jeff Fisher is probably one of the best coaches at the draft in NFL history.  He makes tons of smart decisions, Steve McNair, Eddie George, Vince Young was 33-16 as a starter.  Young doesn't get enough credit.

79.PIT-Brian Winters G Kent St.- 3 year starter at guard., Pittsburgh has never had good blocking under Mike Tomlin.

80.DAL-Tyrion Matheu DB LSU- Jerry Jones is always willing to gamble on a big off field risk, especially what the potential payoff could be with Matheu.  A solid tackler, great speed and a kick returner.  It's a huge risk.

81.NYG-Vance McDonald TE Rice-Eli Manning knows how to turn sub par TE's into weapons, but only in New York.  Shockey, Boss, and Bennett's numbers all increased under Eli.

82.MIA-Barrett Jones C Alabama- Jake Long is gone, and they need a leader for that offensive line.

83.MIN-Shammako Thomas S Syracuse- Good in run support, and that's Leslie Frazier's bread and butter.

84.CIN- John Simon DT Ohio St.- Scouts call him a project player, and Cincinnati loves to draft 'em.

85.WAS-Markus Wheaton WR Oregon St.- Almost a mirror of Pierre Garçon.  The Redskins need to let RGIII dump it off more, and run a hell of a ton less.

86.IND-Chase Thomas LB Stanford- A good leader, a smart tackler, has injury, but reunite with his old buddy old pal Andrew Luck.

87.SEA- Kasheem Greene LB Rutgers- A great edition to an already stellar defense.

88.G.B.-Montee Ball RB Wisconsin- Why the hell not?!  Keep your local boy, and get a really solid running back, which is what the Pack need.

89.HOU-Everett Dawkins DT/DE Florida St.- A good hybrid linemen and at 6'2 292 lbs., just a solid player to add to a line that already puts a ton of pressure with JJ Watt.

90.DEN-TRADE TO S.F.- Dallas Thomas OT Tennessee-The Niners are going to be great for a minute, and picks like this will only pay off in time.

91.N.E.-Corey Lemonier OLB Auburn- Big fast and good in coverage.

92.ATL-Jaimie Collins OLB So. Mississippi- Ray Edwards, and John Abraham are gone, Umenyora is gonna need help rushing the QB.

93.S.F.- TRADE TO DEN- AJ Klein LB Iowa St.- The Broncos could utilize that trade from earlier in the draft, to snag a pretty good linebacker here.  Let him and Stewart Bradley compete in the middle.  He's got great strength, but needs to be willing to take on blockers and shed better.

94.BAL- JJ Wilcox S Georgia Southern- Need a safety after Hall of Famer Ed Reed signed with Houston.

95.HOU-Spencer Ware RB LSU-A big body to relieve Foster at times, 3rd and short, goal line stands.

96.KC-Nico Johnson LB Alabama- Not good in pass coverage but great against the run.

97.TEN-Vince Williams LB Florida St.- Still looking for an identity on defense, Williams is good in the open field.

Shit, there you go.  That took a long time to only do 3 rounds, and I'm sure I missed a couple players, but I don't think I did.
