NFL Week 5 Review; Week 6 Preview

 

      Let's start with the most exciting game of the week, and possibly the entire season thus far, with the Broncos barely edging out the Cowboys in Big D, 51-48.  Both teams went back and fourth and Romo showed why the Cowboys gave him $50 million dollars having his best career game.  Unfortunately for Tony Romo, Tony Romo showed up in the final minutes of the 4th quarter, and threw an interception, and the Cowboys watched the game slip out of their hands.  Romo did have an excellent game with 502 pass yards, and 5 touchdowns, and even showed off his ability to escape pressure in the pocket.  But not even 48 points can slow down Peyton "Fuckin" Manning, who is on pace right now to throw 64 touchdowns on the season.  Peyton did throw his first pick of the year, but that didn't phase him one bit.  The Broncos' defense bent and almost broke on multiple occasions, but in the absence of their 3 best players (Miller, Bailey, and Woodyard), they were still able to come up with a big stop when it mattered most.  What a game, an instant classic, and I was glad to witness such a performance by both teams.

     Elsewhere, the Saints remained undefeated, the Colts upset the Seahawks, the 49ers embarrassed the Texans, the Bengals stopped Brady and the Patriots, the Packers showed up against the Lions, Andy Reid and the Chiefs stayed unbeaten, and the Giants, wow, the Giants look incredibly bad, and are 0-5 in what may be Eli Manning's worst season as a pro.  It looks like Tom Coughlin is on his way out, and this time he may have too big of a hole to dig himself out of.  He's been there for 10 years, and has 2 Super Bowl rings, he's done enough for them, and should walk away instead of being forced out.  Another surprisingly bad team has been the Atlanta Falcons.  With so many big name free agents signed this offseason, Tony Gonzalez returned at a run to the Super Bowl, but the way they've been playing, they are looking at a run to the top of the draft.  The season may slip away from them quicker than expected if they can't get their game together.
     Josh Freeman signed with the Vikings, so expect the Vikings starting QB job to get a little interesting.  The Browns and Dolphins have been a pleasant surprise, but there is still enough time in the year for them to sink or swim, pun intended. 
     So here we are, 5 weeks deep, and the NFL is going stronger than ever with at least 2 great games in each week.  This is why the NFL is king and more popular than ever, great games, getting the fans more involved through fantasy, and showing a ton of love and support for breast cancer awareness!  It's only going to get better folks, trust me!!

NFL Week 4 Preview

     So by this time we are beginning to discover the stronger teams in the NFL, and finding all sorts of surprises. The 3-0 Dolphins, Chiefs, and Saints!?!? The 0-3 Steelers, Giants, and Redskins?!?! But it is still early so let's not get too excited.
     The Buccs benched Josh Freeman and have put him on the trading block. I was going to say the Titans should go after him, but Locker has been wining and his confidence should only grow. So send him to Cleveland. Sometimes all a player needs is a change of view, and they can excel. Other than that the choices are pretty slim if not none.
     Champ Bailey was limited in his practice reps this week and could possibly see his first action of the season.

Game of the Week:
Saints over the Dolphins 28-17

Drew Brees plays well on MNF and are overall more experienced than the Dolphins.

Upset Special:
Bills over the Ravens 20-17

The Bills have been getting better by the week and want to prove that they aren't as bad as everyone thinks. Go Bills!

NFL Preview Week 3

   So now we have seen the Broncos desimate the Super Bowl Champions from the last 2 seasons, we are learning a lot about the character of the team, especially with Von, and Champ on the sideline for defense, and Welker, Decker dropping passes that Peyton literally puts it their faces, and Montee Ball fumbling.  Peyton looks to be playing the way a 37 year old future Hall Of Famer should be playing.
  Knowshon Moreno has made a big statement for his case to be the starting RB, and why not.  He hasn't fumbled, leads the team in rushing, and is good in the backfield for blocking.  And now with Ryan Clady out for the year, the Broncos are going to need help on Peyton's backside.  Wesely Woodyard has fit so perfectly at MLB, that it feels like the Broncos have a true Captain on D, the way Al Wilson was once upon a time ago!
   The Seahawks beat down the 49ers, and that defense looks incredibly fast.  Pete Carroll is a hell of a coach, and players love playing for him.  If that D can keep up the speed and furiosity that they are playing at, it will be next to impossible to score on them.

   The Browns continued their idiocracy of existence, and traded away their offensive power, sending Richardson to the Colts.  This gives Andrew Luck help in closing out games which is what they have trouble with, going back to last season.  The Browns felt they weren't getting what they thought a 3rd overall pick should be giving them.  Well duh, you can only draft such talented players, and never build anything around with the awful decisions they make.  Trent Richardson could've, and should've been the face of the franchise, but the Browns just seem to never wanna be successful.
  The Patriots don't have any weapons for Tom Brady to be "Tom Brady" with, and no real leadership on that D, to maintain offenses from scoring.  The Patriots are probably still going to win the division, but they will have a tough road in doing so.
  The Packers face 3 playoff teams (SF, WAS, and CIN) to start off the season, and look strong, but another test this week for that D that hasn't shown consistentcy since their Super Bowl run.  And the Bengals almost had a chance to come back on the Bears if it weren't for the immaturity of shooting themselves in the foot.  Let's see if they are a legitimate contender in the AFC this week against the Packers.

Patriots over Buccaneers but Brady will throw at least 2 picks 19-14

Saints over Cardinals 29-17

Titans over Chargers if Fitzpatrick can come in over Locker 21-17

Redskins over the Lions in a must win for the Redskins 34-30

Falcons over the Dolphins 30-19

Bills beating the Jets and EJ Manuel will have a great game 27-17

49ers over the Colts in what should be a great game 27-21

Seahawks should crush the Jaguars 24-6

Broncos smashing the Raiders 37-13

UNDERDOG PICK
Rams over the Cowboys.  The Rams D is young, but Bradford looks to have some recievers and I think in a shootout with Romo, it may come down to special teams, and Tavon Austin could be the difference maker in this one.

Bengals over the Packers.  I think this will be the statement game for Andy Dalton and AJ Green and the Bengals.  If they want to become a Super Bowl Contender, they must win these games, against real Super Bowl contenders.
